AI & Biometric Data Policy

Last Updated: April 14, 2026

This page explains how OurMemory uses face recognition features and how biometric data is handled in practice.

1. What biometric data means here

For face matching, we process numerical facial descriptors and face IDs generated from uploaded photos. These are treated as sensitive data.

2. Consent first

Face matching is available only after explicit consent in the in-product consent modal. You can continue uploading photos even if you decline biometric processing.

3. 24-hour retention limit

Biometric face descriptor records are automatically deleted after up to 24 hours of inactivity, and may be deleted earlier if an event ends or if you withdraw consent.

4. Withdrawal and deletion

You can withdraw biometric consent at any time. Withdrawal triggers biometric data deletion for your uploader/account data path in the product.

5. No selling or ad profiling

We do not sell biometric data and we do not use biometric data for third-party advertising.

6. Questions and requests

Use the Privacy Request portal for privacy and biometric requests, or use the photo removal page for image-specific requests.
